CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ENACTMENT OF THE 1/2%
LOCL SALES TAX BY THE RAMSEY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has passed a Tax Bill
which.ncludes an optional 1/2% sales tax; and
WEREAS, Counties and municipalities within Minnesota
have te option to enact this sales tax as a mechanism to
replacl lost State Aid; and
WEREAS, failure to approve the 1/2% Local Sales Tax py
eitherlamsey County or a majority of Ramsey County
munici~lities coul~ result in substantial State Aid
reduct~ns, property tax increases and serious reductions in
service delivery; and

WHREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City
of Mouris View to cooperatively and successfully work with the
intent If the 1991 Tax Law to alleviate property taxes; and
WKREAS, the Council recognizes the difficulties inherent
in a sa.es tax increase to segment.s of the general population;
and
WH1REAS, the Council is also cognizant of the need to
continul to provide quality service to its residents in the
manner md to the degree which provides for its health, safety
and wel:are of its residents.

wm~AS, the Ramsey County Board of Commiss-'c:..ners has
request4d all Ramsey County municipalities to repprt back to
the Ramsey County Board, in resolution form, th.alrviewpoint
on the enactment of the optional 1/2% local salea"tax in order
for the Cqunty Board to meet state imposed deadlines.

NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City df Mounds View hereby supports enactment of the 1/2%
local sales tax by the Ramsey County Board of Co.-issioners.
Adopted this 10 day of June, 1991.
