CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION COMMENDING
VOLUNTEERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE
1991 ''FESTIVAL IN THE PARK" CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View celebrated the 15th annual "Festival in the Park"
celebration; and
WHEREAS, the "Festival in the Park" could not.be held without the .assistance of community
volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Lion's Club provided the City with the funding for the
fireworks display, provided a food booth for the festival and assisted with the set-up and take-down
of festival equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Senior's Club served the refreshments for the parade
participants and provided a free coffee booth; and
WHEREAS, Delilah Johnson and Alice Frits assisted in the planning and preparation of the
parade; and
WHEREAS, Jerry Blanchard once again supervised the craft fair site, ensuring that every
participant had a location; and
WHEREAS, Scout Troop 367 and Explorer Post 761 provided traffic control, medical
emergency services and security under the leadership of Ray Long, George Carlson and Renee
Johnson; and
WHEREAS, contributions were received from County Commissioner Duane McCarty and
State Representative Dick Pellow; and
WHEREAS, the following community organizations participated with providing booths or
activities during the Festival: Mounds View Community Theater, Early-Childhood Development,
Pinewood PT A, Sunnyside PTA, lrondale High School Cheerleaders, Irondale High School Band
Booster Club, Flipside Gymnastics Club, Scouts Troop 400, Mounds View Swim Club, SOC'M,
Steel Drummerettes and Mounds View Lioness Club; and
WHEREAS, the following merchants contributed to the 1991 Festival ill the Park with
services, merchandise or donations: North Suburban Schwinn, Paster Enterprises, Dynex Industries,
Sysco, Firstar Bank, Mermaid Supper Gub, R.J. Riches Restaurant, Silver View Chiropractic Clinic,
Midway Industrial Supply, Pink Flower Restaurant, Appearance Plus, Strochak Cleaners, Burger
King, McDonalds and Perkins.
WHEREAS, the "Festival in the Park" would not be successful without the attendance of the
general public and their participation in the city celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that City Council of the City of Mounds View
is grateful and appreciative for the services provided to these groups, organizations and individuals
that offered their services to the "Festival in the Park".

RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MOUNDS VIEW CITY STAFF
FOR THEIR PART IN ORGANIZING THE
15m ANNUAL"FESTIV AL IN THE PARK" CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, this year marked the 15th anniversary of the annual "Festival in the "Park"
celebration as sponsored by the City of Mounds View; and
WHEREAS, such a community-wide celebration requires a cooperative effort by City
Staff and community volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department were instrumental in the security and traffic control
for the parade and the Police Reserves provided security during the Festival activities; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department prepared City Hall Park for the Festival,
provided assistance to organizations participating in the Festival, assisted with traffic control
measures and secured the park for the fireworks display; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department provided fire safety measures and assisted with traffic
control during the fireworks display; and
WHEREAS, the Cable Committee provided the Cable TV coverage of the community
parade;and
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department provided the overall
organization of the "Festival in the Park" with a year-long process of planning activities,
providing publicity, fund raising, recruiting and working with community volunteers, contracting
services and finally supervising the day's events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds
View does commend and congratulate those employees of the City of Mounds View who
worked together to provide the community with the 15th annual "Festival in the Park" city
celebration.
