RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION FOR FIREFIGHTER
JAY K. BOHAN
WHEREAS, J(~V Bohan has been a Mound~' Viel1' resident and a Firefighterfor the Spring Lake
Park/Blaine/Mounds View Fire Department completing 15 years of service as a volullteerjirefighter: and
WHEREAS, J(~v.ioined the Fire Department March 14, 1983 and was appointed as Captain in
December 1986, as Senior Captain at Station One in JuZv qf 1988, as Acting District Chief in August 1991.

WHEREAS, Jay lvas then appointed as Deputy Chief in June 1993, where he served until January qf
1996 when he returned to the rank qffirefighter at Station One; and
WHEREAS, J(~V has attended various areas of fire fighting including Hazardous Materials,
Radiological Monitoring, Fire Inspection and Prevention, Sprinkler/.''itandpipe Requirements, Wildland
Firefighting, Fire Cause Determination, Incident Command, Fire Department Administration and
Leadership, Fire Instructor, maintained his First Aid/CPR certtfication; and
WHEREAS, Jay has re~ponded to 3,900 fire calls and attended over 1,400 week(v drills; and
WHEREAS, in 1986 he was presented a Merit Service Awardfor attending the most drills in 1984
and re.~ponding to the mostfire calls in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990, another Merit Service Award was given
for his service on the planning committee for the department's Fortieth Anniversary Celebration; and
WHEREAS, J(~V has exercised his skills serving the community by participating in fire prevention
presentations and public fire education events during the annual Open House and Santa tour; and
WHEREAS, J(~V has retired from the Fire Department March 19, 1998 and the Cil}' of Mounds View
appreciates and commend~' Jay for his many)-'ears qf dedicated and loyal service to the Fire Department
and the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, l, Duane McCarty, M(~yorfor the City of Mounds View, and members q{the
Council, employees qfthe Spring Lake Park/Blaine/Mounds View Fire Department and residents of the City
of Mounds View, express their appreciation to Jay Bohanfor his devoted service as a Fire.fighter and Senior
Station Captain.
