STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING REPAIRS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE GYMNASIUM FLOOR
AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER
WHEREAS, a drinking fountain located in the Community Center gymnasium
sprang a leak on November 2-3, 2012 and damaged about 600 square feet of hardwood
floor; and
WHEREAS, the damaged floor is not useable and needs to be repaired to
prevent potential injuries to those using the gym; and
WHEREAS, the repair involves removing and replacing underlying layers of
plywood and hardwood planks, sanding the damaged area, applying two coats of
sealer, and reapplying any removed game lines; and
WHEREAS, Public Works recommends buffing and coating the entire
gymnasium to provide a consistent sheen in finish between the damaged and
undamaged areas;
WHEREAS, Public Works will solicit competitive quotes from qualified
contractors to make the repairs and improvements to the flooring and anticipates the
total cost not to exceed $12,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Public Works is authorized and directed to solicit competitive quotes from qualified
contractors to repair the damaged floor and buff and coat the entire gymnasium
floor.
2. The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf of
the City, to enter into an agreement with the lowest responsible quoter for said work
for an amount not to exceed $12,000.
3. Monies to pay for said work shall be funded by the Community Center Fund (252-
4350-5110).
