HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 4692 . . .. ~ RESOLUTION NO. 4692 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA A RESOLUTION OUTLINING COLLECTION POLICY FOR DELINQUENT UTILITY BILLS WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed current collection policies for delinquent utility bills, and WHEREAS, the Council desires to amend current collection policies for delinquent utility bills; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council that the collection policy for delinquent utility bills will be as follows: 1. The due date of the utility bills will be the last working day of February, May, August and November. 2. A shut off notice will be mailed ten working days after the due date of the utility bill to customers who are delinquent. In addition to the shut off notice that is mailed to the customer, a copy of the shut off notice will be posted in a commons area of the property if it is a mUlti-family account (duplexes, apartments and mobile home parks). 3. If payment is not received within ten working days, from the date of the notice, water service may be discontinued in accordance with the procedure set forth in Chapter 906 of the City Code. Water service will not be shut off on a Friday. 4. If a customer notifies the City in advance, arrangements can be made for installment payments. 5. If accounts remain unpaid due to foreclosure etc. the amount will be certified on the taxes with an 8% administrative fee plus interest as determined by the city Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the utility bills will be sent to the owners of rental property and not to the renter. Adopted this 20th day of March, 1995. ATTEST: (SEAL) .L_ ---L~
