RESOLUTION NO. 4797 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION FORMALLY RECOMMENDING AND SUPPORTING APPOINTMENT OF JENNIFER BERGMAN, MOUNDS VIEW HOUSING INSPECTOR/COORDINATOR, TO THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL'S LIVABLE COMMUNITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the 1995 Legislature passed the Metropolitan Livable Communi ties Act with the purpose of promoting the development and maintenance of affordable housing in the Metropolitan area; and WHEREAS, the Act established the Metropolitan Livable Communities Fund under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Council; and WHEREAS, under the Act, three accounts/programs are established with specific purposes and revenue sources; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council is responsible for the establishment of criteria and guidelines for the Livable Communities Fund, the grants and loans process as well as an annual plan for distribution of the funds and preparation of an annual usage report; and . WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has determined that implementation of the Act can be broader based by the creation of a Livable Communities Advisory Committee, composed of Metropolitan representatives who have a vested interest in the success of the Act's implementation and on-going activities; and WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View, one of the northern suburban communities which has recently completed a comprehensive housing stock analysis and established affordable housing rehabilitation as one of its primary strategic goals; and WHEREAS, Mounds View, is intimately involved and dedicated to the development and maintenance of affordable, livable and quality housing in the Metropolitan area; and WHEREAS, Mounds View has taken a lead role in the initiation of programs that are consistent with the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council in and for the City of Mounds View does hereby declare its recommendation and support for Jennifer Bergman, Mounds View Housing Inspector/Coordinator, for appointment to the Metropolitan Council's newly created Livable Communities Advisory Committee. . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the City Council is confident that Ms. .. Bergman's broad based experience, spanning two states; Minnesota and South Carolina, and working knowledge of Metropolitan area housing issues, concerns and opportunities will be a valuable asset to the Committee. .
