CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR MUL TI-.JURISDICTIONAL
LA W ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER
WHEREAS, well-trained peace otticers are better ahle to assure their own safety
and the safety and constitutional rights of our citizens; and.
WHEREAS. maintaining proticiency in high-liability peace officer activities.
including confrontation management. use of force and lawful searches and arrests. is a
prudent safeguard against expensive litigation and civil lawsuits; and.
\VHEREAS, adequate training Hlcilities for unique peace officer skills can bc
most economically and efficicntly provided through the cooperative efforts of several
ncighhoring jurisdictions; and.
\VHEREAS, funds have heen provided in the 1998 Minnesota State hudget for a
feasibility study on the devcIopment of a consolidated lmv enforcement center in the
northeast metropolitan Twin Cities area;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council direct and
authorize the Chief of Police to participate with representatives from other governmental
jurisdietions in helping to plan and coordinate the development of such a raci lity.
