HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 5471 . . .- RESOLUTICY\ NO. 5471 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COU\iT'{ OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION EXTENDING HEALTH INSURANCE CO;\lTRIBUTlON FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS BARGAINING UNIT 2000 CONTRACT AND NON-UNION CITY EMPLO'{EES WH EREAS. the Policc Unions negotiated the City l1calth insurance contribution. to it's mcm bers, in thei r most recent contract, \vhereas the City contributes 80(~/;) of thc prcmi um and the employee contributes the remaining 20% and; WHEREAS, if the cost of the family health insurance premium increases by more than fiftccn percent (15(~'O) in any given year. the EMPLO,\'ER and thc Bargaining Unit agree to rcnegotiate thc amount of the increase that exceeds Ji fteen percent ( 15~/o) and; WHEREAS. this contribution differs from the amount currently in the year 2000 contract with the Public Works Bargaining Unit and; \VI/EREAS. the Police ljnion's contract amount for the City health insurance contribution also di ffers from thc amount clllTently rcccivcd by Kon-Union City Employees and; WHEREAS, thc City Council of the City of Mounds Vicw. has directed staff to open the 2000 Public Works Bargaining Unit Contract to extend the City's contribution to family health insurance and; WHEREAS. the City Council has also directed staff to extcnded this perccntage amount to the :\ion-Union City employees and; WHEREAS, the following language will amcnd the year 2000 Public Works Bargaining Unit contract and also amend the CUlTent Personnel Policy regarding the City's health insurance policy. A. The EMPLOYER "ill contributc to each employee per month a maximum amount equal to cighty pcrccnt (80(~,;,) of the lowest cost family health insurancc for cmployee and family health insurancc and basic life insurance. B. Employees may designate any unuscd portion of the eighty pcrcent (80~/;,) amount to provide dental covcragc and/or supplemental life insurance offcred according to established guidelincs through the City's plans. - . . C. lCthe cost ofthc t~1l11ily health insurancc premium increases by more than fifteen percent (I S<~'o) in any given ycar. thc EMPLOYER and the Bargaining Cnit agrec to renegotiate the amount of the increase that cxcecds fiftcen pcrcent (150,'0). D. The \Jon-Union cmployees would be extended thc same amount negotiated as the Police L:nions and the Public Works Bargaining ljnit and; WHEREAS. City's contribution amount will be effectivc for the October 1000 health . . lI1surance prenllum. NO\V. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds Vicw. does hcreby change the amount oi'the City's health insurance contribution {'or the 'Non- Union City employees and the remainder ofthc Public Works Bargaining L;nit lOOO contract effective for the October 2000 premium, with the aforementioned amendments.
