<br />RESOLUTION NO. 5490 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTIO~ APPROVIl'lG THE BEST USE OF THE PROPERTY BETWEEN <br />SYSCO AND THE EXISTING GOLF COURSE, IS AN ADDITION OF NINE <br />ADDITIONAL HOLES OF GOLF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; through a two year hydrology study conducted by Peterson Environmental. <br />and with input from Rice Creek Watershed and Thc Corp of Engineers, it has been <br />detcl111ined that thcre is enough land for expanding Thc Bridges Gol r Coursc by ninc <br />holes. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; staff has conducted a cost benetit analysis of adding nine additional golf <br />holes. a clubhousc bar and restaurant. an expanded range. and lighting the course at night. <br />The plll1JOSC of this analysis was to determine a project that would produce positive cash <br />flow and help offset cxisting dcbt on the first nine holes. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; there may be additional funding sources from the First Tee Organization, <br />Billboard Lcasing, The State of Minnesota. and Rice Creek Watershed. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; we will pursue reducing thc cost of construction by using golf course <br />personnel. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; thc existing golf course is on average 73l~.~ abovc its projected maximums <br />and necds additional golf times for its youth and beginncr gol f programs. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; a survey was conducted by city stafr. that showed an expansion of the golf <br />course was highly desirable. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; the Golf Course Committee has examined in detail the options for Thc <br />Bridges Golf Course and unanimously recommended a ninc hole expansion. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; the City Council authorizes staff to proceed with thc following steps which <br />will result in the expansion of the Bridges Golf Course. <br /> <br /> 3) <br /> 4) <br /> 5) <br /> 6) <br />. 7) <br />8) <br />9) <br /> <br />1) Pursuc becoming a member of the First Tce so that we can continue to afford <br />subsidizing the training of youth and other new golfers. <br />2) Have an independent examination ofthc project feasibility conducted, to verify <br />the numbers presented by the golf course staff; should this analysis support staffs <br />findings the follo\ving steps will procecd; should this analysis fail to support <br />statTs findings the following steps will becomc null and void. <br />Dctcrmine if financing would be provided either intcmally or extemally. and with <br />or without billboards. <br />Pass a resolution to have thc costs incurred from this process to be reimbursed to <br />the City of Mounds View from thc final financial package. <br />Hirc an architect to formulatc plans and specitications. <br />Approval of plans and specifications <br />Lctting out of bids. <br />Approval of bids. <br />Approval of funding source. <br /> <br />(':'..\f)\.IIN'.RFSO!.
