CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A 72-INCH DECK MOWER FOR THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Public Works is responsible for the mowing and maintenance of over
150 acres of parkland and grounds; and
WHEREAS, Public Works utilizes a variety of mowers to perform this work, including
a 72-inch deck mower with hydrostatic drive for use to trim around trees, landscaping, and
other obstacles; and
WHEREAS, the existing 2007 Jacobsen Turfcat deck mower used for trimming
began having transmission problems beginning last year which have increasingly gotten
worse, making the mower less safe to use; and
WHEREAS, Public Works obtained an estimate to repair the transmission problem
for approximately $2,500 to $3,000; and
WHEREAS, Public Works solicited a quote from Turf Werks of Eagan, Minnesota for
a new Jacobson Turfcat 628D-4WD trim mower of equivalence for a total of $15,343.81
which includes tax and a trade-in of$6,000 for the existing mower; and
WHEREAS, Public Works recommends replacing the existing trim mower with the
above said mower.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. The purchase of a new Jacobsen Turfcat 628D-4WD trim mower for $15,343.81 from
Turf Werks of Eagan, Minnesota is hereby accepted by the City.
2. Monies for the above said work shall be funded by the Vehicle and Equipment Fund
(460-4360-7030).
