CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVERSION OF ONE PATROL
OFFICER POSITION TO A SERGEANT POSITION
WHEREAS, the Police Department has a need to convert one Patrol
Officer position to a Sergeant position to bring our supervisory level up to
industry standards, and;
WHEREAS, this conversion will be accomplished without adding
additional staff, and will be done through an internal promotion effective May, 1,
2005, using existing Police Civil Service rules, and;
WHEREAS, this conversion will be funded by reducing the funding to the
New Brighton Police Department, and increasing the Mounds View personnel
services budget by the amount necessary to cover the difference in salary
between a patrol officer and Sergeant position. The City will continue to help fund
the New Brighton Police Department School Resource officer at lrondale High
School by the reduced amount in the future.
. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council does
hereby approve conversion of one Patrol Officer position to a Sergeant position
in accordance with the funding plan stated. This conversion will be an internal
promotion in accordance with Police Civil Service Rules, and subject to final
Council approval. The promotion is to be effective May 1, 2005.
