RESOLUTION NO. 6485
CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THREE 2005 SEASONAL PUBLIC WORKS POSITIONS
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5546 requires that seasonal positions must be
approved by the Mounds View City Council; and
WHEREAS, Seasonal Employees benefit the City by providing labor
services that are relatively less expensive and are available during periods of
greater labor; and
WHEREAS, for the last several years, the combined expenditures for
seasonal employees have been exceeding the budgeted amount; and
WHEREAS, on March 14, 2005 the City Council approved Resolution
6436 approving several Public Works seasonal positions, including seven (7)
summer seasonal positions of the original ten (10) that were proposed for the
Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed Staff to show how the remaining
three positions could be funded with funds in the 2005 budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter, Section 7.08, gives the City Council
authority to amend the budget by resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Three 2005 Summer Seasonal Public Works Positions are approved.
With the approval of Resolution 6436 on March 14, 2005, a total of ten
(10) Summer Seasonal positions are approved for 2005.
2. All Public Works seasonal positions will be filled, with new hires
starting at the hourly rate of $1 0.25/hr with the possibility of advancing
to $10.75/hr after one month of satisfactory performance. Returning
seasonal workers will be compensated at rate of $11.00/hr.

3. The 2005 Budget is amended to reallocate funds to the various
seasonal employee accounts from the following accounts:
730-4823-5160 System Maintenance $5,000
730-4823-9100 Contingency $2,000
730-4823-3030 Professional Services $2,000
700-4823-5155 Water Service Repairs $5,000
700-4823-9100 Contingency $2,000
100-4472-1600 Supplies, Operating $3,000
100-4465-1600 Supplies, Operating $1,000
100-4465-1210 Supplies, Buildings and Grounds $2,000
4. Each position will work forty (40) hours per week.
5. All Public Works seasonal positions will remain on staff for a period no
longer than six months.
