CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
Resolution of Support of the 135W Coalition Request for Funding to Study the
1-694 to CR J Segment of 1-35W and Other Area Transportation Improvements
WHEREAS: Communities in the North 1-35W Corridor area in Ramsey
and Ano;.;a Counties have been \"iorking to[Jether to collaborate and coordinclte
public and private investments in housing, economic development and
transportation, and,
WHEREAS: This cooperCltion has included the Metropolitan Council and
the r',linnesota Department of Transportatien, and,
WHEREAS: Our communities are actively engaged in significant
devp-lerment and redevelopment programs that will have significant benefits to
the Regiun as I'/ell as our local ecunurTlies, and,

WHEREAS: These develorments will provide job opportunities for
residents of the region, business oPPoltunities for entrepreneurs, access to
'dl)ods and services for citizens ,md tL'X base for our communities, and,
WHEREAS: We recoqniL8 the importance of a healthy regional
trdnspoltation infrastructure that ",e;r,"ES trade ami tourism mobility and safety for
transccntinental travelers and bll~i;lCSc("S as \.vell ;"s travelers to ard from the
Metropoliton region to other oPVJrtunitiE-,s if' Minnesota, and,
WHEREAS: We recogni:c8 the need to serve regional mobility at the same
Urlle that WB ensure that our citiLens and businesses are provided safe and
convenient 8ccess to and from the rqJional system into local opportunity sites,
and,
WHEREAS: Current traffic tiow conditions en North 1-35W are already
cun,Jesll;d causing delays, accdcnts, air pollution and diminishing mobility, and,
WHEREAS: Forecasted growth in population and jobs within the Region
and ',.'/ithin the Corridor will further soverely congest and diminish the function and
satnty of tile regional system, emu.

WHEREAS: It is in tile interests of the Regien and State to mitigate tile
(;~rrent and anticipated problems at tllis juncture of two high priority Inter
l'{e,lional Corridors with the Metre Bc,ltway,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: ThClt the Council of the City of
Hounds View docs request that the Legislature 8pproprlate funds sufficient to
pro'.'ide tor tho; identification of prdef'"()d system design solutions for the 1-35W;
Tl1 10 highway interchange in P.i;msllY and i\nokil County along with appropriate
r:cunty alll~ city streets, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: Thilt these funds should be appropriated
to the Commissioner of Transpor-lalion to complete community involvement
Cj(;\ivities, altern alive concept dG'/oIopment, conr:ept evaluation, preliminary
engineering and environmental assessment. and.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED: That 1I';e Cit'i Council of the City of 1I.10unds
Vi",;,.'! does hcroby pledge to WUff, 'i;ith the Department of Transportation, Anoka
County, Ramsey Ceunty and the !'.:1etrnpolitOln Council to EJnsure that the
rE..qdested funds are used in a ccoper"Uve and efficient manner.
