RESOLUTION NO. 5045 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RECOUNT RESULTS FROM THE NOVEMBER 5, 1996 REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR FILLING THE VACANCY OF THE CITY COUNCIL SEAT WITH THE TERM ENDING 1998 WHEREAS, a general election was held on November 5, 1996; and WHEREAS, the election results for Mayor and Council were canvassed November 6, 1996 declaring Roger Koopmeiners the winner of the seat by a vote of 1,399 and 1,394 for Sherry Gunn; and WHEREAS, a request was made by candidate Sherry Gunn in accordance with State Law for a recount for the recount of the third council seat; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk-Administrator, acting as the Recount Official, conducted a recount of the election results in accordance with State Law and the Minnesota Secretary of State's election recount procedures on November 15, 1996; and WHEREAS, the results of the recount are as follows: COUNCILMEMBER Roger Koopmeiners Sherry Gunn 1399 1396 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council, acting as the Municipal Election Canvassing Board, declares that Roger Koopmeiners has received the highest number of votes in the election to fill the Council seat vacancy with the term ending 1998. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that ifno election challenge is filed within seven days of the date of this Resolution, the City Clerk-Administrator is authorized to certify the election results to the County Auditor declaring Roger Koopmeiners to be elected to the Council seat vacancy with the term ending 1998.
