<br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 5052 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO BEGIN NEGOTIATIONS <br />FOR A TEMPORARY LEASE ARRANGEMENT WITH CHILDREN'S <br />HOME SOCIETY OF MINNESOTA FOR SPACE IN THE BEL-RAE <br />FACILITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Economic Development Authority <br />took ownership of the Bel-Rae Ballroom land, building, furniture and fixtures <br />located at 5394 Edgewood Drive (facility) effective July 1, 1996; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Economic Development Authority <br />conveyed the facility to the City of Mounds View for $lper Resolution No. 96- <br />EDA53 on September 23, 1996; and <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Children's Home Society of Minnesota (CHS), <br />established in 1889, provides a variety of services throughout Minnesota in the <br />areas of adoption, child care and family life education, teenage pregnancy <br />prevention, day shelter for underprivileged inner-city school children, crisis <br />nursery, support groups and high school work study programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has been meeting with the directors of the CHS <br />for several months regarding their need for space to house a child care center <br />currently located at Spring Lake Park High School; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, CHS needs a minimum of 3,000 square feet of classroom <br />and office space in addition to shared use of kitchen and bathrooms to sustain the <br />level of Child Care provided currently in Spring Lake Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, space within the Bel-Rae facility could be remodeled to <br />accommodate CHS's initial and long term need for child care services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City of Mounds View would benefit from a <br />partnership with CHS through increased social service programs and lease <br />payments to subsidize current overhead costs of the Bel-Rae. <br /> <br />. <br />
