RESOLUTION NO. 430f CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION APPROVING RECYCLING GRANT REQUEST TO RAMSEY COUNTY WHEREAS, ~amsey County is accepting applications for use of SCORE funds to improve recycling participation by the public; and WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View is eligible to apply for a grant to provide administrative and promotional activities intended to improve recycling participation among city residents through education, awareness, and incentives; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Mounds View has determined that this is an appropriate use of city resources and increasing recycling participation benefits the public health, safety, and welfare of the community as a whole. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED to approve the application for SCORE funding (attached) and authorize acceptance of any allocated funding. Adopted this 23rd day of November, 1992. PLEASE DESCRIBE BOW A SCORE FUNDING GRANT WOULD ENHANCE/IMPROVE RECYCL:ING EFFORTS IN YOUR COMMUNITY (PLEASE BY VERY SPECIFIC, AND :INCLUDE MEASURABLE GOALS AND ANY PROGRAM CHANGES FOR 1993). The graht would be used to continue to fund the part-time position of Recycling Coordinator and to cover the costs of City-wide promotional/educational campaigns. The goals of the 1993 recycling promotional campaign are to increase general environmental awareness through educationl increase the number of households participating in recycling, and to increase the tonnage of materials collected. : 3. BOW WILL THESE ACTIVI:TIES BE EVALUATED? The number of households participating will be evaluated by actual counts of curbside recycling. The City's "recycing contest" winners are awarded saving~ bonds for their participation in recycling programs. Other propmotional efforts planned for 1993 are quarterly mass mailings, articles in the City.,newsletter and local press, and cable television progranuning. . 9..
