RESOLUTION NO. 6007 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING THE RENEWAL OF THE FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF MOUNDS VIEW, BLAINE AND SPRING LAKE PARK AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View, along with the cities of Blaine and Spring Lake Park, entered into a Contract with the Spring Lake Park Fire Department for Fire Protection Services in 1994; and, WHEREAS, the term of the Contract was ten years through the end of 2003 with an automatic renewal provision as long as no parties desired to renegotiate the terms or terminate the Contract; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Mounds View finds that the terms of the Contract remain acceptable and in the City's best interest and desire to allow the Contract to self-renew. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds View hereby authorizes and directs the interim city administrator to execute the attached Memorandum of Understanding (Exhibit A) on the City's behalf regarding the renewal of the Fire Protection Services Contract. Memorandum of Understanding To: Barb Nelson, Spring Lake Park City Administrator Jim Ericson, Mounds View City Administrator Dave Johnson, City of Blaine Safety Services Division Manager From: Nyle Zikmund, Spring Lake Park Fire Department Incorporated Fire Chief Date: April 24, 2003 Re: Fire Contract This memorandum serves as official notice and understanding that the three cities and fire department are aware that the "Contract to Furnish Fire Protection Services to the Cities of Blaine, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park" automatically renews for another ten year period effective January 1, 2004 unless any of the four parties gives written notice of intention to re-negotiate some or all of the contract by July 1, 2003. The memorandum, signed by all four parties serves as a record that all parties have been notified and none of the parties intend to service notice and understand the contract will automatically renew until December 31,2013. This memorandum also serves as a record of documentation that the lease agreement contained as an attachment to the Contract contains incorrect address information for the City of Blaine and the Fire Department.
