RESOLUTION NO. 6013
CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPOINTING LINDA MEYER TO A
VACANCY IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, The position of Police Administrative Assistant has been vacant
since July 19, 2002. On January 13, 2003, the council approved a temporary
arrangement allowing the Senior Clerk Typist, Linda Meyer, to work out of classification
performing the duties of Police Administrative Assistant pending the assessment of the
Chief of Police, and action by the Police Civil Service Commission; and
WHEREAS, A meeting of the Police Civil Service Commission was held on
March 11, 2003 concerning permanently hiring to fill the vacancy. At this meeting
various options for filling the position were considered. Ultimately, the police Civil
Service Commission unanimously passed a motion to Place Linda Meyer into the
Service Register in the position of Police Administrative Assistant. This action would act
to serve as an internal promotion; and,
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Police have met with Ms.
Meyer to discuss her interest and qualifications, as well as expectations for the position;
and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has evaluated Ms. Meyer's performance as the
temporary Administrative Assistant, and based on this evaluation the Chief of Police
recommends that Ms. Meyer be appointed to fill the Police Administrative Assistant
vacancy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby appoint Linda Meyer to the position of Police Administrative Assistant at
wage step 4. With consideration for a move to step 5 after 6 months, pending a
satisfactory performance evaluation.
