Roll Call �:hairman Roger Baumgartner, Commiseionere Wayne Burmeieter, Jacque Coplin, Gordon Fedor, Harbara Flsake, and Luverne Petereon. Also present was the Director o£ Parks and Recre6tSon Doug Bryant. Approval of Minutes: 3/'_3/74 Motion by Canmissioner Haake and eeconded by Co�ission Burmaister to approve the minutee of the March 28, 1974 meeting. The motion paesed unanimously. Applicant3 Commiseioner Peterson opened Che discusaion on new membera for the Co�isaion. He pointed out that another gentleman, Mr. Bob Breirer, was interested in becoming a Park and Recreation Com- mission member and to add his name to the list af applicants. � The Director of Parka and Recreation mentioned the possibility of seeking a eenior Mtizen and/or-� � iunior Figh student ae non-wting members. Spring Lake Report The Director was called on to updat:e Commisaioners �- on the progress of the Spring Laiu:/Flawkins project. .; Bryant stated he t�ad reviewed the situation with� the Chie£ of Police and a report was sent to Ramsey County Traffic Division recommending the �. addition of a stop sign on Spring Lake Road, no- . parking signe on the Eazt side of Spring I.ake,�. . moving one existing atop ,i�, and adding.pe3as- � . trian crosswalke. Trail Report CLairman Baumgartner called on C�isalonArs Haake and Coplin to report on existing trail sys- � tems in [he immediate vacinity. A diecuseion �� ensued relative Co a trail syetem in Mounds Viea+. hookup with exiating eystems in other communities, and various types of trails which would include pedestrians, bicycles, snowmobiles, and aki-touring. Chairman Baumgartner raco�mnended a reaeavch committee be formed to study trail syate�s. Ne � requested the Director of Parks and Recreation to � advertise for interested enthusiasts to serve on a research cammittee. Bryant agreed to puraue members by advertising in the locel papers, naws- letter, and phone ^alls. Bieo Subdivision Chairman Hflumgartner reported: The park fund kiad Snovmobile Donation recently received $14,140.00 from the Biem subdidi• Budget Approval sion-the Snoamobile Club doneted $300,00 to tha Park and Recreatian Department for the purchase of bleachers. The proposed budget changes were approved by the City Council. Vandalism In Parks Co�issloner Peterson reportad on the high vanda- lism rate at Oakwood Park and wondered what eteps could be taken to stop these problems. The Director stated that vandalism Nas prevalent in any park eystem and that there vere no magic solutions for curtailing it. A brief �'iscussion ensued ending in agreement � that a special session involving the police�depart- ment and interested citizens be held at a Later date. Adjournmenc Motion by Commieaioner Fedor and seconded by Co:nmiseioner Peterson to adjourn the meeting�. The motion passed unanimously. The Park and Recreation Commiesion adjourned:,at 10:35.P.M.
