Call to Order Roll C.all MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS Of TNE PARK AND RECREATION COh1MISSION CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA Special Meeting September 11, 7975 City Hall The Mounds View Park & Recreation Commission met in special session and was called to order by Chairman Peterson at 6:55 p.m. Vice Chairman Wayne B�rmeisi��, Co�nniss?oners Barb Haake, Jacque Coplin, Wayne Weflin, Gordon Fedor. Also Council- man Baumgartner and Doug Bryant and Marcia deLaBruere. Councilman's Report Cauncilman Roger Baumgartner reported that he attended a Ramsey County Open Space meeting which was organized to establish a County trails system for hiking, biking, snowmobi�ing, and ski toi.ring. He stated that this system would be uniform ared compatible with each adjoining comnunity. Baumgartner also added that the Mounds View Snowmobile Club was involved in the sub-committee for establishing a uniform ordinance for the trails system. He then suggested that signs be posted where �torized vehicles are prohibited. The Director acknowledged that signs had been ordered. Comnissionar Haake pointed out that there is much abuse by snowmobiles in the City and especially at Spring Lake. She stated that is is very dangerous for the children who play on tFe ice. If the snowmobiles want to use the lake, then areas should be specifically designated. Baumgartner requested that the Director take the matter of the sign posting and snowmobile ordinance before the Mounds View Snowmobile Club for help and suggestions. The Director acknowled9ed. Soccer• Fields V � C-,erhQYt attended the Commission meeting �r tie purpose of requesting summer soccer fields that are regulation. He stated that 150 children did not play soccer because there were not enough fields. Spring and fall are not as big of a probiem. A discussion ensued. Page 3 September 11, 1975 A discussion followed evaluating the Lambert Hockey lighting project as to its potential for other activity uses. Motio� by Cortenissioner Haake and seca�ded by Vice Chairman Burmeister to light the Lambert Hockey Rink utitizing a lighting method which would accomodate a lighted soccer or football field. 5 ayes - i naye Five-Year Plan Finalization Motion by Wayne Burmeister to approve the five-year Capital Improvements Plan as amended. Motion was seconded by Comnissioner Peterson and Fassed unanimousty. Tot �ot 6rov�la�d The Director invited all Comnissioners to visit Groveland �ark. Ha informed that the Tot Lot was near completion. Comnunity Affair The Director informed Corrcnissioners of the upcoming Conmunity -A- fair at Irondale High School on September 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. He added that anyone interested in exhibiting should contact the �amnunity Education Department.
