City Hall
Call To Order The Movnds View Parks and Recreation Coimnission met
in regular session, and was called to order by Chair-
man Vern Peterson at 6:40 PM.
Roll Call Chairman Vern Peterson, Cozmnissioners Wayne Burmeister,
Gordon Fedor, Kip Lundquist and Wayne Weflen. Also
present were Mary Kvalheim, Program Supervisor; and
Doug Bryant, Director. Special guest was Steve
Burmeister from Boy Scouts of America, Mounds View
Troop #167.
Appmval of Minutes l�btion by Co�issioner Lundquist and seconded by
Chairman Peterson to approve the mi.nutes of October
28, 1976, as read. The motion passed unanimously.
Chairman's Report Chairman vern Peterson opened the meeting with a dis-
cussion of the pleasure skating rink at Edgewood
Jimios High. He reported that the rink is being used
rara .*,eavnly aa3 that he received requests from resi-
dents living nearby to provide a warming house with
lights for evening skating.
The Director suggested that the rink area also be
regraded. A discussion ensued.
Motion by Coamiissioner Fedor and seconded by Chairman
Peterson to provide a warming house, liqhts and
regrading of the skating rink at Edgewood Junior
High. The motion passed unanimously.
Additional suggestions were: To reduce the size of
the Oakwood skating rink and enlarge the Edgewood
rink.
Arden Park Plan The Director of Parks and Recreation reported that
John Turrittin, landscape architect, was ill and
would not be able to attend this meeting. He would
make his presentation in February. Also, a letter
regarding this meeting would be sent to residenta
neighboring Ardan Park.
Silver View/ M.otion by Chairman Peteraoa and seconded by Co�mnis-
Grant Application sioner Lundquist to approve the submittal of the
LAWCON/LCMR final grant application requesting
matching funds of $75,000 fmm the State of Minneaota.
The vation passed unanimously.
Eagle Project Hoy Scout Troop N167 member Steve Burmeister appeared
before the Parks and Recreation Cba�ission to propose
a project for vhich he could earn his Eaqle badge.
Steve inforned Co�issioners that he would like to
develop a city tree nursery through cooperation vith
the Parks and Recreation Department. He stated treea
wuld be acquired free from the Department of Natural
Resources for planting. He added that he would help
water and maintain plants through the first year, in
addition to doing the actual planting. A discuasion
followed,
Motion by Coaanissioner Fedor and seconded by Co�is-
sioner Weflen to approve the Eagle project for Steve
Burmeister was proposed. The motion passed unanimously.
Subdivisions Motion by Commissioner Fedor and seconded by Co�Ss-
sioner Lundquist to accept a cash�dedication to the
Park Pund in accordance vrith Ordinance M4207 far the
following subdivision: W. E. Rosenquist. The motion
passed unanimously.
Adjournment Motion by Coa�issioner Burmeister and seconded by
Oo�issionez Lundquist to adjourn the meeting. The
motion passed unanimously. The Park and Recreation
Co�ission adjourned at 7:45 PM.
