CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6 : 50 p .m. by
Chairperson Wayne Burmeister .
ROLL CALL Commissioners present : Chairperson Wayne Burmeister,
Commissioners Donna Bowman , Frank Silvis , Marilynne
Dennehy, Ed Letendre .
Staff present : Director Bruce Anderson, Program
Supervisor Mary Saarion , and City Forester Rick
Wriskey .
Commissioners absent : Wayne Weflen and Cindy Wermager
• Councilmembers absent : Bill Doty
Vistors present : Rollie Parteyka, President Mounds
View Jaycees
Doug Steeves , District Director

Director Anderson introduced City Forester Rick
Wriskey and briefed the Commission on the status
of the joint powers agreement .
APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner Frank Silvis
to approve the February 25 , 1982 Commission minutes
as mailed. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Donna Bowman . The motion passed unanimously - -
5 ayes - 0 nays .
FORESTRY PROGRAM City Forester Rick Wriskey informed the Commission of
UPDATE his day to day responsibilities , sanitation program,
and proposed reforestation/tree planting program.
Mr . Wriskey further explained the current status of
the State Shade Tree Disease Control Program .
SILVER VIEW PARK Director Anderson updated the Commission on the
UPDATE proposed plat modifications by Mary Anderson Homes
to switch from townhouses to manor homes .

A motion was made by Commissioner Frank Silvis to
recommend that the City Council approve the plat
modifications and to request that Mary Anderson be
requested to work with the City Staff in constructing
four tennis courts at Silver View Park.

The motion was seconded by Chairperson Wayne
Burmeister . The motion passes unanimously.

CLOSED SCHOOLS Impact on Community Usage - Director Anderson reviewed
the Community Education Advisory Council report which
recommended that one of the two closed secondary
schools remain open as a Resource Center.
Staff further stated that April 12 is when the final
School Board decision would be made regarding the
status of Edgewood .
A motion was made by Commissioner Donna Bowman and
seconded by Commissioner Marilynne Dennehy to
accept the Advisory Council report and forward it
on to the School Board .
The motion passed unanimously - 5 ayes - 0 nays
LAKESIDE PARK Commissioner Donna Bowman stated that the Lakeside
UPDATE Park Commission currently had a vacancy for a
1111 commissioner. The Commission requested staff to
provide an update on Lakeside Park at every
Parks and Recreation Commission meeting .
STAFF REPORT Director Anderson thanked the Commission for their
thoughtfulness and stated that Erica was born March 4,
1982 and everyone was fine.
Staff further reported that the adult softball
registration had gone very well even with the
increased player eligibility restrictions .
Staff concluded by reporting that the new mimeograph
equipment had been purchased and was working well .
ADJOURNMENT A motion to adjourn was made by Commision Frank
Silvis and seconded by Commissioner Donna Bowman.
The motion passed unanimously. 5 ayes - 0 nays
The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 50 p .m .
