COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION GRANING THE NEW BRIGHTON/MOUNDS VIEW ROTARY A ONE
DAY PERMIT TO CONDUCT CHARITABLE GAMBLING AT THE MERMAID
MOUNDS VIEW, MINNESOTA
WHEREAS, the New Brighton/Mounds View Rotary has requested that the
Council allow them to conduct charitable gambling at The Mermaid on April 30, 2004;
and
WHEREAS, the Gambling Control Board requires that the local unit of
government (city of county) pass a resolution specifically approving or denying requests
to conduct charitable gambling; and
WHEREAS, the New Brighton/Mounds View Rotary is in compliance with all
requirements of the Mounds Vie Municipal Code with regard to charitable gambling; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Mounds View to assist in the economic
prosperity of local business owners.
NOW, THREREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby authorize the New Brighton/Mounds View Rotary to conduct charitable
gambling at The Mermaid.
Adopted this 23rd day of February, 2003.

Who may be issued
an exempt permit?
!\n exempt permit Tay be issued to nonprofit organizations conducting lawful
gambling acti'iity on five or fewer days, and awarding less than S50,000 in prizes
during a calendar year. (Raf~les: Total cash prizes for a raffle may not exceed
512,000.)
Separate
applications
required
Complete a Separi-lte application for each occasion. An occasion may be either:
1. One day of gambling activity.
Example: If your organization wants to conduct gambling activity on Apri! 5. May 5,
and June 5. you must submit a separate application and fee for each activity date.
-OR-
2. Two or more consecutive days of gambling activity.
Example: If your organization wants to conduct gambling on July 3, 4, and 5 8t the same
sit.e, you inay subrnit only one application and one fee.
Raffle: If you are conducting a raffle, each day a drawing is held constitutes one day of
gambling. If drawings are held on more than five days in a calendar year, your organization
must obtain an organization license, a gambling manager's license, and a premises permit.
