RESOLUTION APPROVING THE HIRING OF A PSO FOR THE POLICE DEPARMENT TO
REPLACE OUTGOING PSO
WHEREAS, the current PSO for the Police Department has submitted notice of
resignation effective March 26th, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the current PSO is authorized to work no more than 39 hours per pay
period; and
WHEREAS, the eligibility list which was established according to Civil Service rules
when the current PSO was hired is still valid; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is seeking authorization to activate the eligibility list
for the purpose of determining whether three qualified finalists are still available for hire; and
WHEREAS, if unsuccessful in identifying three finalists from the current eligibility list,
the hiring process will be redone. Once completed, the Police Civil Service Commission will
. submit a list of three finalists to the City Council for appointment of one candidate to the
position; and
WHEREAS, the selected candidate will be offered a position starting at Step 1 for that
position as provided for in the AFSCME Labor Contract.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota that the Police Civil Service Commission and the Police
Department are authorized to take the necessary steps to fill the soon to be vacant PSO
position, according to the conditions and provisions listed above.
