<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6234 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION <br /> <br />FOR THE JOINT EFFORTS OF RESPONDING TO A FIRE AT 5045 SUNNYSIDE ROAD <br />IN MOUNDS VIEW <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on Tuesday morning March 22, 2004 the Mounds View Police Department, the New <br />Brighton Police Department and the Spring Lake Park Fire Department all responded to a reported <br />structure fire at 5045 Sunnyside Road in Mounds View and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, reports of a child trapped were received by communications and forwarded to <br />responding first responders and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, New Brighton Police Officers Sg1. Kaiser, Officer Emerson, Officer Hamdorf and <br />Public Safety Officer Pellegrin and Mounds View Police Officers Sg1. Johnson, and Officer Menard <br />attempted to rescue trapped occupants and could not do so because of lethal smoke environment and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Captain Ken Martin and Firefighter Chris Lueck, are both members of the Spring <br />Lake Park - Blaine - Mounds View Fire Department and both residents of the City of Spring Lake Park <br />and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Captain Martin and Firefighter Lueck donned their personal protective gear, obtained <br />a thermal imaging camera and entered the burning structure without a charged hose line as time was of <br />the essence in locating and rescuing the trapped occupant and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, using their training, equipment, courage and professional approach did place their <br />own lives in considerable risk and jeopardy and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Captain Martin and Firefighter Lueck successfully located and rescued nine year old <br />Tony Cooper who was found prone and unconscious on the floor and would have perished within <br />seconds without their heroic actions now; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council does hereby recognized <br />the efforts of the team of first responders to include Captain Martin and Firefighter Lueck of the Fire <br />Department, Officers Emerson, Sg1. Kaiser, Officer Hamdorf, and Public Safety Officer Pellegrin of the <br />New Brighton Police Department and Officer Menard and Sg1.
