AUTHORIZING STANTEC CONSULTING SERVICES INC. TO PERFORM
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN SERVICES AND PREPARE BIDDING
DOCUMENTS FOR GROVELAND LIFT STATION REHABILITATION
WHEREAS, the Groveland Lift Station is an underground duplex wet well/dry well
station and originally constructed in the mid-1960's with mostly the original equipment and
components; and
WHEREAS, the lift station is in good condition structurally, but the piping, valves,
pumps, electrical controls, and other miscellaneous items are in poor condition due to their
age; and
WHEREAS, concerns exist with flooding of the underground pumps and electrical
panels and the need to enter a confined space to access the pumps and controls for
maintenance is not desirable; and
WHEREAS, rehabilitation of the lift station is recommend by staff and consists of
converting the lift station to a submersible lift station to alleviate the flooding and confined
space concerns; and
WHEREAS, Stantec Consulting Services Inc. has provided a fee proposal to perform
engineering design services and prepare bidding documents for the lift station rehabilitation
work, which is recommended to be included in the 2015 Street and Utility Improvement
Project — Area H for ease of construction and efficiencies in the design, bidding, and
construction phases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Stantec Consulting Services Inc. is authorized to perform engineering design services
and prepare bidding documents for the Groveland lift station rehabilitation and include
the rehabilitation work as part of the 2015 Street and Utility Improvement Project - Area
H (City Project No. 2014-004). Compensation will be on an hourly basis plus
reimbursable expenses for an estimated fee of $44,000, increasing the design phase
budget to an estimated fee of$177,300.
2. The Director of Public Works is authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City, to
execute and enter into a professional services agreement with Stantec and Braun
lntertec for said services.
