RESOLUTION NO. 8350 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ANOKA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION COUNCIL JOINT POWERS AGREMENT WHEREAS, On December 1, 2014, Fire Chief Nyle Zikmund reviewed the Anoka County Fire Protection Council Joint Powers Agreement with the City Council; and, WHEREAS, Chief Zikmund indicated that the group has been meeting for many years but needs to organize as a joint powers group to better position itself for the future and to address joint training and data needs; and, WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View and Anoka County municipalities and fire districts would be members of the newly created joint powers group; and, WHEREAS,the purpose of this Joint Powers Entity is to join together to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of fire and emergency services to the public within the geographic service area of the members; and, WHEREAS, the creation of a joint powers agreement will meet the legal needs for the members to accomplish stated goals, including interaction with the Anoka County Joint Law Enforcement Council and other private and public entities; and, WHEREAS, the Mounds View City Attorney's office has reviewed the agreement and believes it to be in the best interest of the City of Mounds View; and, WHEREAS, if at some point in the future the City of Mounds View determines it is no longer in its best interest to be a member of the Anoka County Fire Protection Council, the City may withdraw by providing one year's written notice. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mounds View City Council does hereby approve the Anoka County Fire Protection Council Joint Powers Agreement, attached as Exhibit A, and authorize the Mayor and City Administrator to execute said agreement on its behalf.
