RESOLUTION NO. 6285
CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A LETTER TO RAMSEY COUNTY
REQUESTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE SILVER LAKE ROAD
SIDEWALK PROJECT
WHEREAS, Ramsey County has a trailway cost participation policy that
states the County will be assigned 75% of the cost of the adjacent municipality;
and
WHEREAS, on March 22, 2004, the City Council authorized the
preparation of a preliminary feasibility report for the installation of a sidewalk
along Silver Lake Road from County Road H to County Road 10; and
WHEREAS, on April 5, 2004 the City held a meeting with Ramsey County
to discuss the coordination of the proposed sidewalk project with the mill and
overlay project the County had programmed for later this summer; and
WHEREAS, at said meeting, the City asked if the County would finance a
portion of the City sidewalk project, the County declined; and
WHEREAS, to continue pursuit of financial assistance from Ramsey
County, the next logical action would be for the City to formally request financial
assistance from the County, and
WHEREAS, a sidewalk will promote a safe pedestrian corridor along
Silver Lake Road to aid in the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, said sidewalk will provide continuity of the of the County's
pedestrian corridor system by connecting existing systems.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Mounds View City
Council does hereby direct Staff to submit a letter to Ramsey County requesting
support and financial assistance for the Silver Lake Road Sidewalk Project.
