RESOLUTION 8400 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT AND SITE WORK AT GROVELAND PARK WHEREAS, the playground equipment at Groveland Park is 20 years old and in need of replacement; and, WHEREAS, Public Works Staff and the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission have reviewed options for the playground; and, WHEREAS, Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground of Golden Valley, Minnesota prepared a proposal for the playground equipment layout for Groveland Park which includes a Power Scape play unit for ages 5-12, a new Primetime swing and a new toddler swing as well as refurbishing some of the old components, concrete border, and engineered wood fiber material for a total cost of$59,665.63; and, WHEREAS, additional work involving site grading, turf restoration as well as removal of some of the old playground components will be performed by Public Works Staff at an estimated cost of$2,980.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1. The playground equipment layout and proposal submitted by Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground to furnish and install three playground components, concrete border, and fiber media fill at Groveland Park for $59,665.63 is hereby accepted by the Council. 2. Public Works Staff will perform the site preparation and removal of some of the old playground equipment, Staff is estimating a cost not to exceed $2,980.00 3. A 5% contingency of $3,282.28 is approved in the event that additional work or unforeseen work is required to complete this project. 4. Monies for the above said work shall be funded by the park Dedication Fund (451-4470-7050) for an amount not to exceed $65,645.63.00. 5. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate documents to effectuate the actions contemplated by this resolution.
