APPROVAL TO PURCHASE NINE AUTOMATED EXTERNAL
DEFIBRILLATORS (AED's)
WHEREAS, the police department currently equips all police vehicles with
automated external defibrillators (AED's) to aid officers during medical response calls;
and
WHEREAS, the police department still has a current supply of nine AED's,
which were issued in 2006 and are no longer being supported by the manufacturer; and
WHEREAS, it is vital that medical AED equipment used by officers be dependable
and reliable; and
WHEREAS, last year the department purchased six new Philips AED units through
donations and grant funds, with nine older units still in use in need of replacement; and
WHEREAS, the total cost to purchase nine additional Philips AED units is
$11,707.20, which includes trade-in credit for the nine older AED's.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota to approve the purchase of nine Philips AED
units at a total cost of $11,707.20.
