CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
ST ATE Of' MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE FOR TWO CELLULAR PHONE
ACCOUNTS WITH NEXTEL COMMUNICATIONS FOR COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT AS IDENTIFIED IN THE 2002 BUDGET
WH EREAS, the approved 2002 Community Development Budget identitied the
expenditure of funds for two cellular phone accounts; and,
WH EREAS, The City's building official/tire marshal and the housing inspector/code
enforcement official are two employees who routinely and necessarily spend a significant amount
of time out of the office; and,
WHEREAS, the provision of cell phone service will allow greater and more efficient
communication within the department and between the two inspectors; and,
WHEREAS, thc establishment of cell phone service to the inspectors will provide a
greater level of safety and security while on inspections; and,
WH EREAS, the City has a pre-existing and ongoing service relationship with Nextel
Communications and Nextel has provided a range of service options for the two accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the establishment of the proposed service for two accounts with Nextel
Communications will eliminate reimbursements tor city-related usage of employees' personal cell
accounts.
NOW, TIIEREI<'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council does
hcreby authorize staff'to enter into a service agreement with Nextel Communications for two cell
accounts, with said accounts and usage reviewed periodically to ensure City needs are being
served adequately and cost-effectively.
Adopted this 11th day of February, 2002.
