<br />RESOLUTION NO. 5764 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Resolution in support of Fire Regulation 6-02 governing the sale, manufacturing, <br />storage, and use of 1.4g fireworks as legalized by the state legislature and signed <br />into law by Governor Ventura <br /> <br />Whereas, the Minnesota State Legislature passed a bill authorizing the sale and <br />use of a subset of Class 1.4g fireworks and, <br /> <br />Whereas, Governor Ventura signed the bill into law on or about April 30, 2002 <br />and the effective date was the day after enactment and, <br /> <br />Whereas, all fireworks have been previously prohibited in Minnesota since 1941 <br /> <br />and, <br /> <br />Whereas, the Uniform Fire Code which is adopted by the State Legislature and <br />has been in place since 1983 provides for local authorities having jurisdiction to develop <br />regulations more restrictive than the fire code and, <br /> <br />Whereas, the Spring Lake Park Fire Department Incorporated has developed a <br />number of fire regulations which are in force and, <br /> <br />. Whereas, in the interest of public and firefighter safety the fire department has <br />developed a regulation governing the use, sale, manufacturing, and warehousing of <br />fireworks. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council <br />supports Fire Regulation 6-02 and will immediately begin the process of adopting the <br />regulation by reference in ordinance to further demonstrate support and need for safety <br />controls governing pyrotechnic products. <br /> <br />Adopted this 13th day of May 2002, <br /> <br />}2& <br /> <br />Richard Sonterre, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST <br /> <br />SEAL <br /> <br />~-."'~' ~,l ,'>', <br />'-' " 'j <br />'" ci:)1u__ , v'~LL-.-:> <br />v <br />Kathleen F.
