CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
AUTHORIZING THE ENGINEERING FIRM OF BONESTROO, ROSENE,
ANDERLlK, AND ASSOCIATES (BRAA) TO ASSIST THE CITY IN THE
PREPARATION OF THE NPDES PHASE II STORM WATER PERMIT
WHEREAS, NPDES Phase II (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) is the
next step in the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) effort to preserve,
protect and improve the Nation's water resources from polluted storm water runoff; and
WHEREAS, the NPDES Phase II Permit is essentially an unfunded federal mandate that
will require municipalities with a population of 10,000 or more to expend a significant amount of
time and money to not only develop the permit but to implement it as well; and
WHEREAS, staff is requesting the assistance of the engineering firm of Bonestroo,
Rosene, Anderlik and Associates (BRAA) to assist the City of Mounds View in developing the
permit and meeting the March 10, 2003 deadline; and
WHEREAS, there are 8 steps created by BRAA to help Cities developed the permit.
Steps 1-6 have an estimated cost of $8,200 depending on the City's specific needs. Steps 7
and 8 vary from $4,100 to $8,200 depending on the City's specific needs.
WHEREAS, the cost would be derived from the City's storm water fund - consultant
services (245-4415-3030); and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Mounds View City Council does
hereby authorize the engineering firm of Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik, and Associates (BRAA)
to assist the City in the preparation of the NPDES Phase II Storm water Permit.
Adopted this 30tl1 day of December 2002.
