CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION REQUESTING RAMSEY COUNTY TO PROCEED EXPEDITIOUSLY WITH THE
RECONSTRUCTION OF OLD HIGHWAY 8 AND COUNTY ROAD H
WHEREAS, Ramsey County has had the reconstruction of Old Highway 8 and County
Road H on its Master Plan for several years; and
WHEREAS, the project has been slated for construction in 1996; and
WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View recognizes the reconstruction of these two Ramsey
County roads has significant importance to the transportation needs of the community and the
region; and
WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View wishes to formally declare its commitment to
continue the cooperative relationship with Ramsey County to ensure that the construction of this
project; and
WHEREAS, the 1996 schedule of reconstruction represents a two year timeframe within
which the City of Mounds View and the surrounding region will continue to be adversely
impacted by the congestion of traffic at the intersection of County Road H and Old Highway 8;
and
WHEREAS, plans by MnDot to meter the on ramp to 135W from Highway 10 will
contribute to an already highly dangerous intersection; and
WHEREAS, accelerating the plans for reconstruction of the two County roads would
greatly alleviate a growing traffic problem and contribute to an enhanced and safer intersection
for traffic moving through the City and the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council in and for the City of
Mounds View does hereby request that Ramsey County proceed as expeditiously as possible
to reconstruct Old Highway 8 and County Road 8.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City Council formally requests that the County
provide the City Council with timely updates regarding this project and involve City staff in any
and all discussions regarding the plan, the timeline and other relevant matters relating to the
project.
