CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW

STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REPLACEMENT OF A CIVIL DEFENSE WARNING
SIREN
WHEREAS, one of the cities civil Defense warning sirens is worn out, no longer functioning, 's over 20 years
old, and is no longer being manufactured, and;
WHEREAS, its replacement is essential to ensure the cities emergency warning system is operational, and;
WHEREAS, RT Electric, and Federal Warning systems both submitted bids for replacing the siren with a
Federal 2001 (the most purchased siren in the industry) siren which is a rotating siren which covers a 5,400
feet radius, and;
WHEREAS, the bid from RT Electric is $15,220.00, and the bid from Federal Warning Systems is $15,649.
To avoid delay in obtaining a replacement for this critical warning system, a tentative order has been placed
with the lowest bidder -RT Electric.
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of Mounds View authorizes the
purchase and installation of a replacement warning siren from RT Electric in the amount of $15,220 including
tax from the special project fund.
