APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF TWO IN-CAR SQUAD
CAMERA RECORDING SYSTEMS
WHEREAS, the police department has used in-car squad camera systems for
several years to document traffic stops and arrests; and
WHEREAS, The value of in-car camera systems includes the enhancement to
officer safety, unbiased and accurate recordings of public contacts during traffic
incidents, assisting with conduct violations and personnel complaints and promoting
positive officer behavior and policy compliance; and
WHEREAS, the police department has currently equipped seven of our squad
vehicles with camera systems; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of two new camera systems will equip one squad
currently without a camera and begin to replace and update our aging camera systems;
and
WHEREAS, three estimates were obtained from different companies for the
purchase of two video camera systems; and
WHEREAS, The Watch Guard camera system, priced at $10,240 for two camera
systems, offers a wireless transfer of data and is the preferred system to select.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: Approval to purchase two video
in-car camera recording systems from Watch Guard Video at a total cost of $10,240.
