COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVAL OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TO THE RAMSEY
COUNTY AUTO THEFT PREVENTION COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department has secured funding in 2012 for
the partner agencies from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Insurance Fraud
Prevention, Auto Theft Prevention Program, for the Ramsey County Auto Theft Prevention
Collaborative Initiative for license plate readers and awareness materials; and
WHEREAS, the partner agencies include the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department, the
New Brighton Police Department, the Maplewood Police Department, the White Bear Lake
Police Department and the Mounds View Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Police Department has acquired one license plate reader
from the Sheriff's Department grant and a second license plate reader unit during the initial
grant application period; and
WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Sheriffs Department applied for additional grant funding
for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 periods on behalf of all partner agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Police Department can receive reimbursement of$2,000
for the annual license plate reader maintenance fees and $3,200 for investigator overtime
expenses; and
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Police Department must follow the guidelines in the
memorandum of understanding for the reporting requirements; and
WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department requests all partner agencies to
sign the Memorandum of Understanding to the Ramsey County Auto Theft Prevention
Collaborative Initiative to remain eligible for all grant reimbursements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View,
Ramsey County, Minnesota, approval of the Memorandum of Understanding to the Ramsey
County Auto Theft Prevention Collaborative Initiative.
