CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A PUBLIC SAFETY VIDEO MONITERING
PROJECT
WHEREAS, The Police Department has received a grant from the US
Department of Justice for a public safety video monitoring system in the amount of
$24, 681, and;
WHEREAS, the police department has received three package quotes for
the design, equipment, and installation of a public safety video monitoring project. The
quotes are $25,206 from Terry Haukom, and $25,000 from Creative Technologies and a
third package designed by Terry Haukom for $20,190, and:
WHEREAS, Terry Haukom is the traffic management system designer for the
State Department of Transportation and has over 15 years of experience designing and
installing video monitoring equipment, and is approved by the state for independent
employment in designing and installing public safety systems. Staff have reviewed the
• specification of the equipment to be purchased with the $25,206 packaged and have
verified that this package best meets the grant specification and the needs of the city,
and the equipment is durable and of high quality. The second quote is from a vendor
who has little or no experience in designing and installing the type of public safety video
monitoring systems we require, and the third quote is for $20,190, which is a package
structured by Terry Haukom with different equipment and fewer cameras ,and;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby authorize the purchase of the Public Safety Video monitoring package
designed by Terry Haukom in the amount of $25,206 payable from $24,681 in grant
funding and $525 in police department equipment funds.
