STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION APPOINTING DEPUTY CHIEF STEVE MENARD
AS INTERIM POLICE CHIEF AND
AUTHORIZING CORRESPONDING ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, the Police Chief Tom Kinney is resigning effective April 29, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, according to the policy adopted in Resolution 5626, an employee
may serve in an interim capacity to meet the needs of the vacant position with the
approval of the City Administrator and the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 5626 establishes that additional compensation may be
authorized for employees serving in an interim capacity taking on higher classification
duties; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Steve Menard is recommended to be appointed as
Interim Police Chief and recommends Deputy Chief Steve Menard to be compensated
for the higher classifications he will assume in the absence of the Police Chief; and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends following Resolution 5626, and approve Deputy
Chief Steve Menard an additional 10% compensation for assuming the role of Interim
Police Chief.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City Council
does hereby authorize additional compensation to Deputy Chief Steve Menard at a rate
ten percent (10%) of his base pay effective April 30, 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mounds View City
Council appoint Deputy Steve Menard as Interim Police Chief until a Police Chief is
hired.
