APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF NEW DUMP TRUCK
WHEREAS, the City has had the practice of replacing dump trucks on a fifteen-
year cycle. This 15 year trade-in period allows the fleet to be economically maintained
without having major repair bills which are not typically recovered in the trade-in value:
and,
WHEREAS, Staff recommended in 2015 that the time frame to replace unit#424
be moved up for replacement in order to have all three plow trucks equipped with under
body plows which helps to reduce the amount of salt applied the roads; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council approves and places in the operating budget the
cost for replacing vehicles, and;
WHEREAS, the City has received a quote for a 2017 Mack GU Single Axle unit,
with a with a Cummins ISL-D 345hp diesel engine, Allison 3000-RDS 6 speed
transmission in the amount of$88,832.00, not including license and transfer fees, under
the State contract from Nuss Truck & Equipment of Roseville Minnesota, and:
WHEREAS, the City has received a quote from Tow Master Truck Equipment to
outfit the truck to include a dump body, front plow, wing plow, snowplowing light
package, underbody scraper and controls; and,
WHEREAS funding is available in the Pavement Management Fund, 460-4470-
7040, has $125,000.00 budgeted for this dump truck purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Approves this purchase of a 2017 Mack, GU532 SBA, single axle unit, with a
Cummins ISL-D 345hp diesel engine, Allison 3000-RDS 6 speed transmission
in the amount of $88,832.00, not including transfer or license fees from Nuss
Truck & Equipment of Roseville MN., and is recognized through the
Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV), a members-only program that
enables participating governmental units, such as Mounds View, to purchase
goods and services under competitive contract terms established by the State
of Minnesota.
2. City Council also approves the purchase of equipment and options for the
2017 Mack Dump Truck including a dump body, front plow and wing, under
body plow, lights and cab controls under the State contract to Towmaster
Truck and Equipment in the amount of$110,367.00, for the purchase and
installation of these items.

3. City Council approves the trade-in of the 2003, Ford Sterling L-8500 Series
Dump Truck to Nuss Truck & Equipment of Roseville MN at a credit value of
$48,000.00.
4. City Council approves using the funds from the 2017 budget for the Roll Pack,
which will be deferred until 2018 along with the under budget excess from the
purchases of a service truck and utility cart for a total of$23,966.00.
5. City Council approves the budget adjustment of$2,233.00 to fund 460-4470-
7040 for a total of $127,167.00.
