CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A WATER OPERATING VALVE FOR
WATER TREATMENT PLANT 1
WHEREAS, the City has the responsibility to efficiently operate the water distribution
system, and;
WHEREAS, in water treatment plant number 1 (WTP1) there is a large 10" control valve
which controls water flow from the filter tanks to the distribution system, and;
WHEREAS, in 2015 it was determined that the valve is no longer operating as designed,
and;
WHEREAS, Staff contacted a vendor to get a quote for a new valve and put this cost in the
2016 budget, and;
WHEREAS, the Public Works staff has received a quote for a new valve form Kudro
Equipment Inc. from Chaska MN for$10,678.00, not including shipping.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds
View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows:
1. Approves the purchase of(1) one 10" Ross valve model 42SR-S pump control valve with
emergency quick close feature at a cost of$10,678.00, not including shipping from Kudro
Equipment Inc of Chaska MN.
2. Approves a 5% contingency for any unforeseen expenditures not to exceed $533.90.
3. Funding for this valve will be taken from account 700-4823-7030 which has $35,000.00
for water treatment valves. Cost for rental equipment would be funded from account 700-
4823-4010.
