HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 8798 RESOLUTION 8798 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING THE RESURFACING OF SILVER VIEW PARK AND RANDOM PARK BASKETBALL COURTS WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission along with Public Works Staff have been evaluating options for the playing surfaces at Greenfield, Groveland, Silver View and Random Parks; and WHEREAS, the playing surfaces vary in age and condition and multiple options were considered for improvements, including total reconstruction, resurfacing or installation of a tile system; and WHEREAS, Fred Kolkman of Fred Kolkman Tennis & Sport Surfaces, LLC, was contacted to perform the evaluations and provide the Commission a report for options for all the playing surfaces in the Parks; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kolkman prepared plans and specifications for resurfacing the basketball Courts at Random and Silver View Parks which were sent to five different contractors; and WHEREAS, one proposal was received, submitted by Dermco-Lavine Construction of Minneapolis, for a total of$28,950.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1. The proposal submitted by Dermco-Lavine Construction in the amount of $28,950, reviewed by Fred Kolkman and found to be satisfactory, is hereby accepted by the Council. 2. A 5% contingency of $1,447.50 shall be added to the project for any unforeseen expenditures. 3. The total cost of the resurfacing projects will not exceed $30,397.50 and will be funded from the Park Dedication account, 451-4470-7050. 4. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate documents to effectuate the actions contemplated by this Resolution. 5. The Mayor and City Administrator, staff and consultants are hereby authorized and directed to take any and all additional steps and actions necessary or convenient in order to accomplish the intent of this Resolution.
