Minutes of the Economic Development Commission
City of Mounds View

Regular Meeting
April 20th, 2001
City of Mounds View, Council Chambers

1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:31 a.m. by Chairperson Tom Field.
2. ROLL CALL:
Members Present: Dr. Greg Belting, Tom Field, Torri Johnson, Wendy Marty (Arrived Late), and Sean
Walther.
Member Absent: Cindy Carlson and Stan McDonald
Staff Present: Community Development Director Jim Ericson and Economic Development
Coordinator Aaron Parrish
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Motion/Second: Belting/Walther moved to approve the minutes for March 9th, 2001:
Motion Carried: 4 Ayes 0 Nays
Commissioner Marty arrived at 7:41 am
4. SPECIAL BUSINESS
There was no special business discussed
5. REPORT OF COMMISSIONERS, STAFF AND EDA LIAISON
A. Commissioner Reports
There were no Commissioner Reports.
B. NB~MV Chamber of Commerce Update
Commissioner Belting indicated that the Volunteer Service Award event was successful. Commissioner
Belting also informed the Commission of two upcoming events including the Chamber’s annual golf event
and the Business of the Year Awards presentation.
C. Report of Staff
1. County Highway 10 Corridor Study Update: Coordinator Parrish updated the Commission
regarding the current status of the County Highway 10 Reconstruction and Revitalization study. He
informed the Commission that URS/BRW was selected as the project consultant .

2. Business of the Year Nominations: Coordinator Parrish indicated that the city typically nominates a
business for the Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year Award. He indicated that
Commissioners could nominate a particular business, and he would submit it for the Chamber’s
consideration.
3. Minnesota Institute for Public Health Office Development: Coordinator Parrish indicated that a site
plan to construct an office building for the Minnesota Institute for Public Health was approved by the
Council.
4. Mermaid Hotel and Banquet Center Expansion: Coordinator Parrish informed the Commission that
of the current status of the Mermaid redevelopment project. He indicated that grading should begin in
May with construction beginning sometime in June.
5. Donatelle’s Sold: Coordinator Parrish informed the Commission that Donatelle’s has been sold and
should be open sometime in the near future.
6. Legislative Updates: Coordinator Parrish discussed current legislative issues primarily related to
impact of property tax reform on tax increment finance.
7. Liberty Check Printers: Coordinator Parrish informed the Commission that CB Richard Ellis is
currently negotiating to extend their lease and acquire additional space in Mounds View Business Park
Building G.
6. EDC BUSINESS
A. Presentation by Mike Mulroney, Advanced Resources for Development
Mike Mulroney provided an overview of his firm Advanced Resources for Development to the Commission.
He indicated that Advanced Resources for Development is an economic development consulting firm
focusing on finance and marketing. He also responded to specific questions put forth by the Commission.
B. Review of Marketing Materials
Coordinator Parrish provided an overview of the city’s current marketing materials including printed
materials and the City’s website.
7. Adjournment
There being no further business before the Commission, this meeting of the Economic Development
Commission adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
