HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 8966RESOLUTION 8966 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA APPROVING SPLASH PAD EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION OF THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS FOR CITY HALL PARK WHEREAS, City Council has discussed the desire to have a splash pad installed in the City, and the Council requested the Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission to look into a Park suitable; and, WHEREAS, A proposed splash pad and playground layout was prepared by Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground of Golden Valley, Minnesota; and, WHEREAS, The City Council approved the overall concept and layout of the City Hall Park and instructed Staff to get cost estimates; and, WHEREAS, Public Works Staff will assist Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. in the installation of the water and sanitary sewer lines. The estimated cost for this work is $8,500.00; and, WHEREAS Staff has received a quote from RAK Construction, Inc. in the amount of $90,991.00 for both the plumbing and electrical work; and, WHEREAS, Staff received a quote from Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground of Golden Valley, Minnesota for the concrete installation for the splash pad at a cost of $19,080.00; and, WHEREAS, the City Council vision is to improve the City Hall Park to include a new Playground and Splash Pad built and in operation by August 2018. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1. Approves the proposal from Dave Perkins Contracting, Inc. of Nowthen, MN for installing water and sanitary sewer lines to the site. The estimated cost for this work is $8,500.00. 2. Approves the proposal from RAK Construction, Inc. of East Bethel for electrical and plumbing work for the installation of the splash pad in the amount of $90,991.00. 3. Approves the proposal from Minnesota Wisconsin Playground of Golden Valley MN for concrete installation of the splash pad in the amount of $19,080.00. 4. Approves a 15% contingency of $17,800.65 for any unforeseen issues that may arise during the installation of the playground and splash pad. 5. Monies for the above said work shall be funded by the Special Projects Fund (480- 4470-7050) with a 2018 budget of $218,000.00 for the splash pad. Resolution 8966 6. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate documents to effectuate the actions contemplated by this resolution. 7. The Mayor and City Administrator, staff and consultants are hereby authorized and directed to take any and all additional steps and actions necessary or convenient in order to accomplish the intent of this Resolution.
