A panel consisting of Mary Burg, Brightwood Hills Golf Course Superintendent in New Brighton, Kurt Johnson, The Bridges Golf Course Superintendent, Brus Von Ende, the Bridges Golf Course Manager and I conducted the interviews for the position on Wednesday, 4/12/95. This is a ten month per year position, from approximately Mid-December to Mid-February, with an annual salary of $25, 000 and pro rated benefits. The eight candidates interviewed were selected from a field of 11 who had responded to the job advertisement. The advertisement required the successful candidate to have at least 2 years of post-secondary education in the area of turf management, business management, recreation or a related field and 2 years of experience in repair and maintenance work on golf course. The interview panel recommends that Mike Mueller be hired to fill this position. Mr. Mueller has an Associates degree in biology from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato and has taken classes in turf management at the University of Minnesota at Waseca. His work experience has been with the Montgomery Golf Club, where he has worked for almost seven years, four of those years as the head superintendent. Mr. Mueller has demonstrated that he has met all of the requirements of the position and has an excellent work history which indicates he can perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Reference checks have been completed and are satisfactory. It is recommended this hire be contingent upon successful completion of a physical examination and drug and alcohol test. RECOMMENDATION; Motion to waive the reading and adopt Resolution No. 4749 approving the hire of Mike Mueller, Golf Course Grounds Superintendent, annual salary to be funded out of Golf Course Account No. 750-4601-020. r RESOLUTION NO. 4749 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION APPROVING THE HIRE OF MIKE MUELLER, GOLF COURSE GROUNDS SUPERINTENDENT WHEREAS, the position of Golf Course Grounds Superintendent was advertised in several local publications; and WHEREAS, 11 candidates applied for the position, 8 of whom were interviewed; and WHEREAS, Mike Mueller was one of the candidates who applied for the position and was interviewed based on his credentials; and WHEREAS, Mr. Mueller has an Associates degree in biology from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato and has taken classes in turf management at the University of Minnesota at Waseca; and WHEREAS, His work experience has been with the Montgomery Golf Club, where he has worked for almost seven years, four of those years as the head superintendent; and WHEREAS, His education and past work experience indicate he has the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the job tasks and duties of the position. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the interview panel proposes Mike Mueller be hired for this Golf Course Grounds Superintendent position starting Monday, April 24, 1995, at an annual salary of $25, 000 to be paid out of Golf Course Account No. 750-4601-020. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this hire is contingent upon successful completion of a physical examination and drug test. Presented this 13th day of April, 1995.
