The Mounds View Planning Commission was 1. Call To Order
called to order by Chair Mountin at 7:35
p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 1992 .
MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Burgers, 2 . Roll Call
Miller, Nelson, Peterson, Stevenson, and
Chair Mountin.
ALSO PRESENT: Planner Harrington and
Planning Intern Asleson.

Planner Harrington outlined Planning 5. Consideration

Planner Harrington explained that the 2400 County
variance was needed to correct a setback Road J
discrepancy which was created by the
City at the time of the platting of the
property. City code requires a 40'
setback from County Road J and Sysco's
current development is set 30 ' from the
road. Planner Harrington also explained
that this variance would allow planned
future development of the property along
411 the current building line. If Sysco
wanted to build another facility not

already approved by the City, they would
then need to conform to the 40' setback
requirement.
Commissioner Colleen arrived at 7:40
p.m.
Motion/Second: Burgers/Peterson to
adopt Resolution 327-91, approving a 10 '
setback variance at Sysco Continental
Foods of Minnesota.

Chair Mountin asked for nominations for 7 . Report of Chair

Motion/Second: Burgers/Nelson to
appoint Commissioner Peterson to the
position of Vice-Chair for 1992 .

The attendees at the December 18, 1991
agenda session were Commissioners
Burgers, Colleen, Miller, Nelson,
Peterson, Stevenson, and Chair Mountin.
There being no further business before 8 . Adjournment
the Commission, Chair Mountin adjourned
the meeting at 7 :45 p.m.

CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
COUNTY OF RAMSEY-
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE REQUESTED SETBACK VARIANCE FOR
SYSCO OF MINNESOTA, 2400 COUNTY ROAD J,
PLANNING CASE NO. 334-91
WHEREAS, the Mounds View Planning Commission has
reviewed the request of Sysco of Minnesota for a variance to
allow a 30 foot front yard setback where a 40 foot setback is
required by the Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the
criteria used when evaluating all variance requests; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has considered that
the reason for the variance request is the result of the City of
Mounds View's acquisition of road right-of-way at the time the
property was developed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View
Planning Commission approves the 10 foot setback variance request
based on the following:
1. The condition that exists is not self-created.
2 . The requested variance is the minimum needed to
alleviate the problem.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that future development on the
site, as approved in City Council Resolution No. 2408, shall be
allowed to be located at a 30 foot setback.
