The Mounds View Planning Commission was called to 1. Call to Order
order by Chair Mountin at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday,
June 5, 1991.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Miller, Burgers, 2 . Roll Call
Jones, Peterson, Colleen and Chair Mountin.
ALSO PRESENT: Planning Technician Harrington and
Councilmember Blanchard.
Motion/Second: Burger/Peterson to approve the 3 . Approval of
minutes of May 1, 1991, as presented. Minutes:

The Floor
Planning Technician Harrington stated that due to the 5 . Rescheduling of
proximity of the July 3, 1991, Regular Planning July 3, 1991,
Commission meeting to the Fourth of July Holiday, Meeting to July
Staff recommended that the meeting be rescheduled to 2, 1991
Tuesday, July 2, 1991. Chair Mountin, after
consultation with the Planning Commission,
rescheduled the meeting. to July 2, 1991, as per
Planning Commission Bylaws . Chair Mountin asked that
the change of date be posted and published in the
official City newspaper.
Planning Technician Harrington provided the Planning 6 . Staff Report
Commission with a memorandum from City Council member
Pat Rickaby regarding the potential for senior
housing on the property located at 2901 Highway 10 .
Chair Mountin asked that Councilmember Rickaby be
given a memorandum capsuling the interest that was
shown in the property by REM, Inc.

Chair Mountin reported that the May 29, 1991, 7 . Report of Chair410
scheduled agenda session was canceled due to a lack
of quorum. Chair Mountin also reported that the
Commission has received the resignation of Commissio
member Robyn Zollner. Chair Mountin asked that
advertisements for the vacant seats on the Plannin {,. ' ,
Commission be placed in the City Hall bulletin boa
and cable access television.

Chair Mountin noted the attendees at the May 22,
1991, Planning Commission agenda session were
Commissioners Miller, Peterson, Colleen, Zollner and

Chair Mountin.
Commissioners Burgers and Jones had excused absences .
Commission member Peterson reported .that a study has
been completed of the propertlocated north of
Highway 610 and immediately west of I-35W and that
the consultants findings indicate that the potential
for a 9-hole golf course exists and should be
pursued.
There being no further business before the Planning 8. Adjournment •
Commission, Chair Mountin adjourned the meeting at
7 :47 p.m.

SUBJECT: VARIANCE REQUEST, DAVID BRIDGES
8032 SUNNYSIDE ROAD
Mr. David Bridges has made application for a variance to allow
the construction of a 24 '-0" x 24 '-0 " detached garage at 8032
Sunnyside Road.
The applicants property is located within an R-1, Single Family
zone district. Mounds View Municipal Code allows the placement
of garages at a 5'-0" side lot line setback. The request is to
allow the garage to be located approximately 2 '-0" from the side
lot line.
Currently, the property has a 14 '-0" x 20 '-0" garage with an
• attached 8 °-0" x 13 '-0" porch. This structure would be removed
and the proposed structure would be placed in the same location-
incorporating the existing concrete slab in the construction.
I have included the application, site plans and applicants '
statement of hardship for your review.
