The main purpose of the project is to refresh and accurately portray Mounds View’s image or brand to residents, businesses, prospective businesses and visitors. The project consists of the following two parts: 1. Develop a brand strategy and new logo/tagline for Mounds View (derived from resident and business surveys, interviews and research) 2. Develop a public communications/marketing plan (based on the brand strategy) Most recently, Risdall Marketing Group presented the EDC and EDA/City Council with the following two survey reports: • January 2009 City Council Work Session - Residents Image Survey Report • February 2009 City Council Work Session - Business Operators Survey Report The executive summaries of both reports are available to the public on the City’s Website and the full reports are available at City Hall. Staff e-mailed the full Business Operators Survey Report to Mounds View businesses (those who have e-mail addresses available). Staff also provided the report to the president of the Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce. Discussion At the February 23, 2009 EDA meeting, the staff from Risdall will present the EDC and EDA with the following: • Discovery Findings Report (summary of all research) • Mounds View’s Preliminary Brand Strategy EDA Item 7A - Risdall February 23, 2009 Page 2 of 2 Attached is Risdall’s Discovery Findings Report for the EDC and EDA’s review. Risdall will present the Preliminary Brand Strategy during the EDA meeting. Next Steps • February 28, 2009 City Council Goal Setting Retreat − The staff from Risdall hopes that the Council will further discuss the Preliminary Brand Strategy at the retreat. • March 9, 2009 EDA meeting − The staff from Risdall will present the EDC and EDA/Council with Mounds View’s final Brand Strategy and new logo/tagline. • March/April 2009 − Risdall Marketing Group will develop a marketing/public communications plan for the City. The Brand Strategy will drive the marketing/public communications plan. • April 25, 2009 Town Hall Meeting − The Brand Strategy, new logo/tagline will be unveiled to the public. Recommendation Staff recommends that the EDC and EDA/City Council review Risdall’s Discovery Findings Report and be prepared to discuss the Preliminary Brand Strategy that Risdall Marketing Group has developed for Mounds View.
