Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chair Stevenson at 7:04 p.m. December 3, 2008. 2. Roll Call Members Present: Chair Stevenson; Commissioners, Cramblit, Gunn, Lang, Meehlhause, Miller and Walsh-Kaczmarek Absent and Excused: None. Also Present: Community Development Director Roberts, Planning Associate Heller. Index to Minutes Page 2009 Planning Commission Schedule Review Planning Commission Member Applications 3. Approval of Minutes October 15, 2008 and November 5, 2008 MOTION/SECOND: Commissioner Walsh-Kaczmarek /Commissioner Cramblit. To approve the Minutes of the October 15, 2008 and November 5, 2008 regular Planning Commission meetings as slightly amended. Ayes — 7 Nays — 0 Motion carried. 4. Citizens Requests and Comments on Items Not on the Agenda None. Mounds View Planning Commission Regular Meeting 5. Planning Cases None. 6. Other Planning Activity A. 2009 Planning Commission Meeting Schedule December 3, 2008 Page 2 Planning Associate Heller stated the proposed 2009 meeting schedule is the first and third Wednesdays with no complications with holidays. MOTION/SECOND: Commissioner Gunn/Commissioner Miller. To approve Resolution 898- 08, a Resolution Establishing the 2009 Meeting Schedule of the Mounds View Planning and Zoning Commission. Ayes —7 Nays — 0 Motion carried. B. Review Planning Commission Member Application Planning Associate Heller stated that there are three Planning Commission terms concluding at the end of 2008. There is an additional vacancy with Commissioner Gunn being elected to the City Council. The city received six applications for four positions. Three of the applicants are current Planning Commission members. She stated there are two new applicants present this evening for questions. Also, there has been a ballot placed in of front each Planning Commissioner for their voting and the recording secretary will tally the votes this evening. Gary Rundle, applicant, stated he has lived in Mounds View for over 25 years. He stated he has always wanted to participate on the Planning Commission and decided to apply. He stated he has three grown children and was open for any questions. Commissioner Cramblit asked what position Mr. Rundle held with Xcel Energy. Mr. Rundle stated he works in the warehouse and assists getting the trucks loaded for the day. He had previously performed meter readings but because of the low demand for meter readers he transferred over to the warehouse about 1 %2 years ago. Chair Stevenson asked if he would have any issues attending the two Planning Commission meetings per month. Mr. Rundle indicated this would not be an issue. Commissioner Walsh-Kaczmarek asked about his volunteer work with the lrondale Marching Band. Mounds View Planning Commission Regular Meeting December 3, 2008 Page 3 Mr. Rundle stated he has assisted with various activities with the marching band. Mr. Paul Schiltgen, applicant, stated he moved into Mounds View in July of this past year and was looking to get involved with the city either with the Planning Commission or another commission. Chair Stevenson asked if he would have any issues attending the two meetings per month. Mr. Schiltgen stated that this would not be a problem. Commissioner Walsh-Kaczmarek asked if he had done any other volunteer work. Mr. Schiltgen stated he previously has worked with a church on Rice Street assisting inner-city kids. He also asked how the current Planning Commissioners liked serving on the commission. Commissioner Gunn stated that it has helped all the current commissioners. Commissioner Walsh-Kaczmarek stated that it has given her a better opportunity to learn more about the Mounds View community. Community Development Director Roberts instructed the commissioners to vote for four of the applicants on the ballot. The recording secretary tabulated the votes and submitted the results to Planning Associate Heller, Associate Heller read the four names that received the most votes: Jean Miller, Gary Stevenson, Gary Meehlhause and Gary Rundle. She stated that the Planning Commission's recommendation for four Commissioners would be passed to the City Council to make the final appointments on December 22, 2009. 7. Next Planning Commission Meeting: A. December 17, 2008 B. January 7, 2009 8.
