One of the suggestlons 1s for the extensto~ oP Oid Highway A8. ThE othar suggetstion 1s f~r sidewalks on the east sida of S11ver I.ake Road and shelters for Mass transit. Chalrperson Naeke ask.ed th~ Commissioners for thelr suggestlons. Cammisslon Mambar quan suggested the residants be nsked to come to a meating so the Commiss9on can get their input. He said he hasn't 11ved in Mounds View tong enough Lo know whnt th~ resldents feel 1a important, Chairperson Haake potntad out the appllcation has to be SLbmitted by August 15th. Commission Member quan sald he has bceo on xhls roed several tlmas but feels 1ts improvemenC would bene~it a 1lmited number of paople. He suggested the pro~ect be for a broader spectrum of people. Commisslon Member Burmelster didn't feel there was enough pedestrian traffic for sidewatks on Silver Laka Road. She would ralher see them elsnwhere. He would support shelters along bus ro~tes because geopte using the bus are usuatly very young oP very old end don'C ha~~e cars. She sald if she used the bus she wou7d proPgr to drlve to Northtown, especiatl.y during the wlntar because it would wnrm up Che enr more end woutd be easler on tF,e cer. Counctimember Baumgartner wes excused from the meeting at 8:37 PM Commission Member Burmelster said she could agree with a brldge but feyt teh Metro Coucnll wes more lnterested 1n e pro~act that 1s a' need rlght now. A brldga would be benef1c1n1 in the future but sh~ didn't feel 1t would be epprovad stncn the need doesn't exist now. Cammissloe Member Burmeister satd it may help demonstrate a need if the ~ity could get something into thls park. She sai~ she couldn't see sidewalks on S11ver Lake Rund but could see them 1n areas that heve a school. Chairperson Haake said Lhe bridge cuuld be moved down to Long Lake Road and it would still combine the north end south areas of Mounds View. Commisslon Member Gtazer sald he felt the pro~ect applied for should be one tha* the City wants very badly and he coudln't support sldewalks on Silver Lake RoaC beaausa the CiCy aireedy has problems with RAd ~ Oak. He agreed with a pro~ect for a bridge. ,~ Commission Member Fedor asked why the C1ty only has 15 days to make epp1lcaEion. Chalrperso~ Naake said this rles ;eaal.ad July 6th so the Commisslon probably should have dlscussed 1t at teh lnst meeting. Commisslon Member Fedor suggested the C1ty consider applying Por a bigger pro~ect where they can gek as many points as possible. He suggested the Commiss9on cons9der a compleLe sy~tem that w111 connect every park, Mounds V1ew Squere and the C1v1c Center. Yf it does recelve appravat easements for bike paths would have to be acqulred and if in the future Mounds V1ew flnds a need 4or a storm sewer system this may lower the cost for it. Chatrperson flaakQ sald the Perk and Recreatlon Commisslon has apnroved a motton that the storm easements should also be used Por blkeweys.
